  • For Win95/98/NT/2000/XP
    • mIRC - The most commonly used & one of the easiest IRC Clients for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP
    • PIRCH98 - PIRCH98 is a well-implemented IRC client, offering all the popular IRC features and functions.
    • VIRC - VIRC 97 is a new concept in IRC. This program is totally integrated with the Win95 Shell. With a very intuitive interface, VIRC is definitely one program to check out.
  • For Linux
    • Console
      • ircII - This is the latest implementation of the most popular Internet Relay Chat client in use today. This client usually sets the standard by which IRC clients are judged.
      • Irssi - Irssi is a modular IRC client that currently has only text mode user interface, but 80-90% of the code isn't text mode specific, so other UIs could be created pretty easily.
      • sirc - sirc is programmed and programmable in perl, much smaller than most clients, and yet has most of their features.
      • BitchX - A very popular, enhanced version of ircII with colors and lots of bells n' whistles.
    • X windowing environment
      • KVIRC - An excellent graphical IRC clone for the KDE environment.
      • tkIRC - A graphical front-end to IRCII with a very nice interface.
      • xchat - Another nice GUI equipped IRC client
